Snow just keeps coming for our alpine resorts

FRESH snowfalls of up to 20cms over the weekend, and ideal conditions for snow making, have continued to help deliver a perfect winter wonderland experience at Falls Creek and Mt Hotham.

With a chilly minus eight degrees early Monday morning, the snowguns were continuing to top up the average snow depth of around 90cms in the alpine resort.

Hotham field marketing coordinator Alex Pankiw said they were expecting great conditions leading into the peak season of August.

"Skiers and boarders are loving it out here at the moment,” he said, noting that the Gotcha lift opened on Sunday for the first time.

"It’s been an awesome two weeks at Hotham with over one metre of snow falling." We had about 20cm over the weekend, which made for some wicked pow turns, and now the sun’s shining and it’s excellent.”

Falls Creek has had similar snowfalls and has most of its terrain opened and lifts operating, while Dinner Plain and Mt Buffalo have tobogganing and snow play.
