MANSFIELD Olympian and skateboarder Hayley Wilson, 21, had an outstanding year in 2022 and has been selected as only one of two female skateboarders to make Australia's top 20.
The judges awarded the skateboarders based on their video output, magazine coverage in both Australia and overseas, professionalism and overall achievements.
In 2022, Hayley became the first woman to ever feature on the cover of iconic skateboarding magazine Slam including an eight page interview, photo shoot and pull out poster.
This was followed by a two page photographic spread in the US Thrasher magazine.
Hayley has also had continuing success overseas, placing third in the Copenhagen Open in Denmark, fourth at Wheels of Fortune USA and an outstanding result placing first in the Vans Open as part of the USA Vans Open of Surfing Women at Huntington Beach, California.
As one of only 46 skateboarders and only seven females in the world to be fully sponsored by Nike, Hayley toured with some of the team across USA, Sweden and Denmark and is currently on tour with them in Sydney.
She also featured in the Slam skateboarding video titled Pleather Jacket.
At the age of 21, Hayley continues to be a role model for the next generation of skateboarders, with the majority of international podium winners now under the 15 years of age and some as young as 12.
Hayley was also asked to be on the panel to assist in the selection process for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Hayley said she was honoured that her hard work in 2020 was rewarded with a spot in Australia's top 20 and the months ahead will be spent busily filming with Nike, both in Australia and overseas.
