Five reasons to fall in love with Sun Peaks Canada

NEXT winter is going to be a big one for Sun Peaks Resort in Canada’s beautiful British Columbia.

There’s so many reasons to fall in love with Sun Peaks – it’s Canada’s second largest ski area, is incredibly family friendly and has a charming ski through, pedestrian-only village with some great ski-in/ski-out accommodations.

But what has us really excited for next season is the opening of Sun Peaks’ new West Bowl Express quad chairlift.

The new high speed chair will access a zone of terrain located in the alpine of Tod Mountain, one of the resort’s highest elevation skiable areas.

With beautiful alpine views on a sunny, south facing aspect West Bowl is set to offer a fantastic new pod of intermediate terrain with plenty of cruisey blue runs to enjoy.

West Bowl

West Bowl has long been one of the Sun Peaks most special hidden treasures.

Serviced by a T-bar up until 2021, the only way to access the area in the last few years has been via a short hike.

But with the new West Bowl Express opening for season 2024/25, it’s about to be a lot easier to experience the breathtaking panoramic views, amazing snow conditions and a heap of fun new trails!

Amazing skiing and riding for everyone!

Sun Peaks has perfect runs for everyone from the absolute beginner to advanced skiers and boarders seeking steep black or challenging tree runs.

We love that there is a green run from every lift, so everyone can ride up together, choose their own path down and easily meet up again at the bottom.

The Village

Sun Peaks’ beautiful Ski Through Village has a European mountain town feel and offers a wide range of ski-in/ski-out accommodation options, catering to couples, small families, or larger groups.

Some of the great accommodation includes Sun Peaks Grand and Fireside Lodge.

The village has 45+ shops and restaurants, so there’s plenty of great options for après!

Family Fun

Sun Peaks is truly a snow dream come true for kids (and parents!).

The Sun Peaks Sports School offers fun group lessons for kids ages six and up, and private lessons for kids ages three and up.

There’s so much fun and easy terrain for kids to shred, including the new Bears’ Lair Adventure Zone which opened this past season and has bear characters hiding in the forest along the way.

Then when everyone has had enough skiing for the day, you can keep the fun going at the Tube Park which stays open until 7pm.

Off mountain adventure

There’s a lot to do off the slopes with tons of both outdoor and indoor activities to keep everyone smiling.

Snowmobile tours, dog sledding, ice-fishing, snowshoeing, axe-throwing, sleigh rides, fat biking, ice skating, and catching a local ice-hockey game will give you an authentic Canadian experience.
