The lightest and driest champagne powder in the country is what amplifies Furano as one of the best ski resorts in Japan. Offering a more relaxed vibe with less crowds makes this majestic winter haven ideal for families. Also, Furano generally has favourable weather with bright sunny days, making riding on the immaculately groomed runs a pleasure for newbies and intermediates. There’s no shortage of challenges for the experts with a massive scope of steeps and off-piste powder. This region is a pathway into the back country of the Daisetsu Mountain Range known as the Powder Belt. Skiers and snowboarders can take an unforgettable tour into this awe-inspiring wilderness.
The season generally begins at the end of November and goes through until the beginning of May with more than 8 metres of snowfall to carve up. Furano is home to Japan’s fastest cable car that gets skiers and boarders onto over 25km’s of mixed trails for all abilities meaning everyone can share in Furano fun.
Furano town is only mintues from the slopes with karaoke and izakayas pubs, traditional and affordable Japanese food, entertainment, cosy accommodation and of course onsens. Furano is the spot to experience an epic snow escape and the world famous JAPOW.
