WHEN November rolls around on the horse racing calendar, what is the first event you think of? And no the answer is not Melbourne. Here in the Snowy Mountains it’s the Adaminaby Races which is scheduled for Saturday November 18.

Adaminaby Races is one of the great country race days and this year it will be like a visit to Disneyland, such will be the flair and colour of attendees. An event where people not only visit locally, but travel from afar to rejoice in the one day of the year where this picturesque racecourse comes alive.

Over recent years the event has been besotted with setbacks and cancellations, none of their own doing. This year they need your attendance to return the day to its magnificent best.

The 2023 them is Disney, so don’t be surprised when placing your “winning” bet that the person beside you might have Mickey Mouse ears…. And Donald Duck is sure to be parading through the ring at some point.

There are full tote and on course bookmakers for local and city races. Its best to bring cash, although this year they will have ATM machines on course.

Fashions on the Field

The ladies and well dressed men will be looking to impress the judges in the fashions on the field, always a popular parade even for the onlookers.

Patrons are encouraged to dress in their finest attire or the Disney theme. Anyone can enter the Fashions on the Field by registering on the day with various categories. Judging and presentations will be held in front of the Meekatharra Verandah immediately after Race 3.

Buses

Buses will be running too and from Cooma. Tickets can be purchased at Mack’s Auto and Tyre Plus in Cooma at $40 costs for bus and gate entry. Buses will leave the Centennial Park bus zone at 11.15am.
