LOCALS and visitors alike are raving about the newly–opened café, the Stockroom and Pantry, in Yackandandah.
With casual dining, a seasonal menu and a dram shop (which is a fancy way of saying that it's a commercial establishment that sells alcoholic beverages) the Stockroom and Pantry is perfectly located in the heart of town.
Local Yackandandah couple Matt and Kim listened to what locals were wanting to see in town and the Stockroom and Pantry is now filling that void.
"We focus on vegetarian meals and smaller portions than other places," Matt said.
"We want to focus on providing local produce and high quality wines and highlighting the many items made and produced around Yackandandah."
Business and operations manager Julian James said they have access to amazing produce from around the region.
"The café is a little upmarket with wine and cuisine where the menu will be regularly changing and we have table service too," he said.
Matt and Kim love working with local suppliers with pigs and greens coming from local supplier Yack Ingredients in return for scraps from the hotel and mash grain from their local drink partners Two Pot Brewery, Backwoods Distillery and Yack Creek Distillery going back to help feed the pigs.
Matt and Kim are also proud to announce that while Two Pot Brewery beers are available from other outlets, Stockroom and Pantry will be the only stockist of their premium products.
There are plenty of reasons to keep coming back to the Stockroom and Pantry with future expansions to include a wine, whisky and cocktail bar in the basement and an increase of pantry stock items with a variety of jams, preserves and dried fruits and premium bottles of wine.
The Stockroom and Pantry offers all day brunch between 9am and 4pm Thursdays to Sundays and a wine bar on Friday and Saturday nights.
