Bright’s newest art gallery

AWARD–WINNING landscape photographers Mieke Boynton and Matt Palmer invite you to immerse yourself in scenes of natural beauty at Bright's newest art gallery.

The Alpine Light Gallery was opened by Mieke and Matt in December 2021 and is the culmination of many years of photography and travelling.

Although they both had dreams of opening a gallery, there was initially a rather large obstacle to overcome: Matt phoned Mieke to ask how she would feel about another landscape photographer moving to Bright, which Mieke said was fine, as long as he didn't open a gallery.

The two then became romantically involved (thanks COVID lockdowns), Matt moved to Bright to join Mieke and this happy situation led to them opening the Alpine Light Gallery together.

The gallery celebrates their love of the Alpine region and showcases spectacular landscapes from their travels all over the world.

Mieke and Matt have both received national and international recognition for their work.

Mieke is regarded as one of Australia's premiere landscape and aerial photographers and is the first–ever Australian to win the Epson International Pano Awards and one of only five Australian recipients of the prestigious Maitre de la Fédération Internationale de l'Art Photographique (MFIAP).

Matt is passionate about story–telling through imagery and his work documenting the impact of Tasmanian fires saw him named Australian Professional Photographer of the Year in 2019, in addition to Landscape Photographer of the Year.

Mieke and Matt love to share the stories behind their prints, but they also understand if you prefer to browse and contemplate on your own.

Works are regularly changed, so no two visits are alike, and a variety of options are available including fine art prints, large float–framed canvases, ultra–modern aluminium prints and crystal blocks.

Alpine Light Photographic Art Gallery is open Friday to Tuesday from 10am to 4pm or Wednesday and Thursday by appointment at 102A Gavan Street, opposite the Alpine Shire Visitor Information Centre and Bright Brewery.
