THE Bright community welcomed in the festive season with the official lighting of the Christmas tree at this year's Bright Lights Winter Nights market last Friday.

Bright Lights Winter Nights committee president Gail Bennett said a great night was had by all.

“It was a great turnout and Santa arrived before the storm,” she said.

“The children enjoyed lots of fun and it was a great family get together.

“We would like to thank local musician Vicki who entertained the crowd with carols and music.

“The Bright Lights Winter Nights committee donated $250 to the CFA and to the Uniting Church.

“We would like to thank the Alpine Shire events team for all of their help and the Uniting Church for allowing us to use their grounds.

“We’re looking forward to a bigger and better event next year.

“Merry Christmas everyone.”

Winners of the raffle were Vicki Earl from Porepunkah, Darren Sutton from Beechworth and Greg Pelly from Harrietville.
