Superstar volunteers needed

BRIGHT Theatre Company (BTC) is gearing up for its September production, showcasing a collection of David Ives comedies exploring love, literature and life.

The group has been hard at work in rehearsals, to put on a spectacular show for the local community, and is now asking for a little help in return.

BTC production coordinator Carolyn ‘Cal’ Waddell said a number of volunteers are needed for a range of roles, with no qualifications necessary.

“We don’t need anyone with a lot of experience, just fun seeking personalities,” she said.

“We would welcome anyone to assist backstage; from lighting design, sewing, ushering, hair and makeup, props and serving alcohol (RSA required).

“Most importantly we’d love someone who is experienced in editing film for projection.”

The collection of comedies performed by BTC will feature;

‘Time Flies!’: a journey of two young lovers and an encounter which gives a whole new meaning to the phrase “life’s short”, as time waits for no one;

‘English made simple’: wordy practitioners are here to help us delve into the finer side of the English language and discover some helpful, and not so helpful, hints to explore love and connection;

‘Sure thing!’ With Bill and Betty: two strangers who meet in a cafe and whose conversation continually resets, allowing them to navigate multiple outcomes and humorous exchanges; and

‘Words, words, words’: placing monkeys in a cage and expecting them to produce classic literature in 15 to 20 minutes is much the same as sending your child to school for a week and to return home with a degree in philosophy, however this is live theatre, miracles can happen.

All performances will begin at 7.30 on Friday, September 13, Saturday, September 14, Thursday, September 19, Friday, September 20 and Saturday, September 21 with a matinee performance also on Saturday, September 14 at 2pm.

The shows will be held at The Bright Courthouse on Park Street, Bright.
