Friends of the late David ‘Harro’ Harrison have a permanent memorial at Lake Crackenback Resort (LCR) to remember him after a memorial garden and Harro’s Bridge were named in his honour.

The LCR strata committee with instigation from Dave Alberthsen, and the resort operations team headed by Lachlan McClean agreed it would be appropriate to recognise Harro for his contributions to the Resort spanning over 30 years.

Dave said Harro’s Snowsports was a vital part of the resort, and they were very pleased the business has continued with Mitch at the helm on a year-round basis.

“I know Harro would be both touched and humbled by the dedication of this memorial garden and the naming of the bridge in his honour,” said Dave Alberthsen.

At the unveiling, resort property owners, friends and the Harrison family of Sue, Brock and Mitch were all touched by the speeches and the thought that had gone into the memorial.

Sue Harrison said she was extremely pleased the garden has been transformed with a Japanese style after Harro had spent over a decade in Japan with his business for the northern winter.

“In his last days when we suggested his ashes be scattered at the resort he (Harro) gave the proverbial finger, he didn’t want his ashes scattered there,” said Sue.

“For the owner’s corporation and the resort to honour David with this area is unbelievable.”

The lakeside pathway, memorial garden and Harro’s Bridge are located on the eastern edge of Lake Crackenback, a short stroll from the village green and on the lake walking loop.

“The likes of David Harrison do not pass by very often. I am privileged to have known him and his memory and friendship will be remembered by all of us,” said Dave Alberthsen.
