Parrott prises Monthly Medal

WITH the weather improving (sort of anyway) and the course much drier than it's been for months our numbers are increasing and everyone seems to be enjoying getting a little bit of run on their shots

Tuesday – Stableford:

20 brave souls ventured out on Tuesday and the scores indicated just how well the course is now playing

There was one division with 20 playing;

1st – Cec McIntosh – 40 points

2nd – Kerry Hartwig – 39 points

3rd – Peter Barnes – 38 points on a countback

A great round by Cec who will appear later in this report, nice to see Kerry back in form and our Medal of Medalists Peter Barnes is continuing his great form.

Thursday – Stabelford:

A terrific turn out in cold and windy conditions (who said that the weather was improving?) with 58 players fronting the starters gun.

There were two divisions with 58 players;

A Grade:

1st – Cec McIntosh with 39 points

2nd – Rob Fankhauser – 38 points (on a countback)

3rd – Kyle Bridgeman also on – 38 points

B Grade:

1st – Ross Vaughan – 37 points (also on a countback)

2nd – Anthony Tehan – 37 point

3rd – Bill Parsons

What a day for the morning group (TMG – Thursday Morning Golfers or Gentlemen – depending on who you talk to) with 1st and 2nd in A grade and also the winner of B Grade.

What a week for Cec (Shorty as he calls himself when a bad shot is played) 40 points on Tuesday and 39 points on Thursday.

Rob is continuing with his stellar form of late and what a round by Kyle – by my reckoning he was a couple under par.

Another great round by Ross who goes about his business very quietly and continues to rack up the scores.

Well done to Anthony who also played with the morning group and welcome back to Bill; maybe we should all take a short trip to NZ.

Saturday – Stroke – Monthly Medal:

51 players, two divisions.

A Grade:

1st – Alan Parrott nett 66 (h/c 16)

2nd – Dion Sheahan C/B 69 (h/c 9)

3rd – Rod Sargent 69

Dion set the early pace with his 69 and was looking reasonably safe then along came Bob Speed with amazing 67.

Not long after in strode Alan Parrott like a major general with a huge smile on his dial and rightly so, towards the end was Rod Sargent with impressive 69.

B Grade:

1st – Bob Speed nett 67 (h/c 24)

2nd – Wayne Desmond 69 (h/c 28)

3rd – Jim Sullivan C/B 73 (h/c 19)

Wonderful round Bob, so close.

Of course, he was assisted by club legend Fred Rogers in his cart to keep him calm and give guidance. Excellent round by Wayne the second time in as many weeks.

Jim, affectionately known as 'the neighbour' put in another strong performance.

In summary the monthly medal sponsored by 'Walsh's wiring', thanks to Kate and Craig, was won by Alan Parrott.

The J.D. Perks award for best gross went to Rod Sargent (again) with his great round of 69, he played to plus two after having lost a shot.

Amazing.

Tony Cooksey the loveable rogue and course superintendent along with Kyle Bridgeman filled the next positions.

At last we have caught up on all of the postponed monthly medals.

Good luck to our Pennant team, more news next week.
