AROUND 2000 people enjoyed the Horse Power in the High Country event facilitated by the Delatite Driver’s Car Club at Mansfield's Botanic Park on Saturday.
Club president Cameron McGann said this is the second year of the event which raises money for Statewide Autistic Services (SASI) in Mansfield.
“Last year we raised about $18 to 19,000,” he said.
“If we get $31,000 this year we’ll reach our goal of $51,000 which will be enough money to furnish one of the (SASI) retreat camps.”
Mr McGann said the event was not only aimed at people who love cars, but for families.
“The Mansfield Shire Council organises the slide, face painting, music and food,” he said.
“We just provide the cars and that side of it.
“Some of our members did a count and there were actually 150 cars.
“I picked the best in show which was a chevy pickup which was my favorite - it was a lot of people’s favourites actually.”
Mr McGann said it was wonderful to see people travelling from far and wide to attend.
“It’s just great to see the cars and the people that you know from other places who come from all over the state,” he said.
“I have friends from Melbourne come up that I only see once or twice a year and the weather was excellent.”
