A cool change

HEAR that?

It's the mountains calling your name and inviting to you explore a little differently this summer.

Escape the hustle and heat – head for the hills up at Mt Buller and Mt Stirling for a season of long lunches, sunset strolls, rolling mountain bike trails and an endless web of walking trails.

As the sun goes down you'll get uninterrupted views of the stars and sleep soundly in the cool alpine air.

Just a 45 minute scenic drive from Mansfield (follow the curve of the Delatite River), Mt Buller's pretty alpine village is humming with a calendar of events and experiences this summer.

Experience a white Christmas, minus the international airfare, with real snow for the Christmas/New Year week that will delight the kids and all you romantics who are currently humming a little Irving Berlin.

Mt Buller stockpiles tonnes of snow at the end of winter creating a magical summer snowplay zone each afternoon between Boxing Day and New Year with plenty of free and kid–friendly activities on offer.

Mt Buller's bike trails are in superb shape following extensive refurbishment last year and riders are already booking accommodation and shuttles for their fix on the massive XC network, the lengthy Delatite and Epic trails and adrenaline–inducing gravity tracks.

Events including the Fox Superflow on December 10 and Victorian Downhill Champs on January 14–15 are back and the trail running community are training for the Buller Sky Run on December 11 and the Oscars Hut to Hut on February 17–19.

Folks looking to unwind and take a more relaxed pace on their summer holidays will find plenty of options including delicious long lunches, sunset sessions and leisurely walks.

The Kooroora Hotel in the Mt Buller village is open daily, as is the newly renovated Mirimbah Store at the base of the mountain.

Mt Buller also has a small, well–stocked grocery store open most days for essentials, snacks and fresh produce.

The resort reminds visitors to check the website for updates, live cams for a peek at the weather and book activities and accommodation online before you head up.
