SPECTACULAR weather, an array of stalls, engaging entertainment and a large, enthusiastic crowd helped make this year’s Whorouly Village Fair a huge success.
According to village fair coordinator Jennifer Garrett, the day got off to a slow start but then the crowds started rolling in and Whorouly Recreation Reserve was absolutely buzzing for the eighth almost annual event on Sunday.
“One stallholder from Rutherglen said it was one of the best market venues she had been to, and was very impressed by the organisation and the crowd,” Ms Garrett said.
President of the Whorouly Memorial Park committee, Trent Newton, who was on sausage sizzle duties, was absolutely thrilled with how the day unfolded.
“This has to be one of the best ever village fairs,” he enthused.
Best of all, Ms Garrett said, the event showcased what Whorouly has to offer, and the community came together to raise money for their various clubs and organisations, to support other community members and just to socialise.
Sunday's village fair also hosted an old-fashioned sports carnival organised by Whorouly Inner Wheel Club, a large contingent of the ever-popular Myrtleford line dancers who boot scooted on the oval, the Myrtleford Ukulele Group and a tribal bellydance troupe called River Spirits.
“From Four Gully Farm’s chestnut hommus to Mannie’s Italian donuts and Whorouly Primary School’s chocolate trailer competition to the wide selection of handmade goods, this year’s village fair has been deemed an overwhelming success by locals and visitors, and bodes well for the future of the event,” Ms Garrett said.
