A Pork Chop’s Guide to carrying on at Hotham

IF you’re up at Hotham and you’re here for a good time not a long time, it can be hard to figure out where to go and what to do on any given night.

Here finally in once place we have the night-by-night guide to how to get carried away.

For each of these evenings, the advice for the next morning is the same.

Get up, get out the door, let the fresh air slap you in the face and get to the chair.

There is no cure for your ills like fresh corduroy and a pale pink dawn on face of Twilight.

Get to the Heavenly Valley chair and pay your respects to Mother Feathertop who may absolve you of your sins.

Wednesday

The largest darts competition in the Southern Hemisphere takes place Wednesdays between the Hotham Hotel and The General Store.

Teams are entered at the start of the season, but you can come along and watch three divisions of overly enthusiastic and meagrely talented staff throw things at a wall and yell for hours on end.

Teams tend to converge at either Hotham Hotel or The General Store as the games finish up around 10:30pm so make your way to the bus and follow the flow of traffic to either venue.

Saturday

If you remember in ‘The Simpsons’ when Kent Brockman asks the expert on the news “without knowing the precise nature of the problem, would you say it’s time for our viewers to crack each other’s heads open and feast on the goo inside?’, he responds “Yes I would Kent”.

This is planning a Saturday night at Hotham.

Your guess is as good as mine, I wish you luck, may the odds be ever in your favour.

Sunday

You’ve called in sick to work for Monday cause you couldn’t quite stomach the trip home and you had one too many on the deck in the sun at the Snowbird this afternoon. Now you’ve got the howling fantods as the reality of your decision is starting to sink in, your partner is at home drunk and your neighbour is feeding your cat.

Your best option is to double down, steer into the skid and head to Dinner Plain for Amber’s Trivia at Highplains Hotel where you will find the friendliest staff night on the hill and steak and drink specials.

Happy Hour specials at Miss Mary’s include Vietnamese inspired espresso martini for $14.
