Bumper crowds for Mansfield Show return

FAMILIES and individuals turned out in amazing numbers for last Saturday’s Mansfield Show.

Although final entry numbers are yet to be calculated, literally thousands turned out in the best weather yet.

“Everywhere there were smiling faces as people relished the chance to enjoy the activities offered after three years of cancelled shows,” Mansfield Agricultural and Pastoral Society President, Amanda Swaney said.

“The weather was perfect and from 9am crowds poured in the gate.”

Entry to children was free and parents took advantage of an outing for the family.

Many headed to the Scout Hall to read their child’s writing entry; others watched the local Bryant family present a whip-cracking spectacular and the world first wazzacow cutting challenge – not on a horse but using a lawn mower!

“These days we are concerned about the mental health of many of our children and adults in Mansfield,” Ms Swaney said.

“I would like to say that the Show provides rich engagement and interest for all, not only on the day but also in planning and preparing entries.

“Whether it be in entering flowers, cakes or photography or bringing in handmade jams and chutneys; entering horse events or joining in the vast band of volunteers who make the Show such a spectacular success, there is something to involve every person.”

The value of the Show was clearly apparent in the number of people who sat and chatted under the shade of trees and in the bar and luncheon pavilion.

It was clear that the Mansfield Show provided abundant opportunities for people to get together, enjoy all that was on offer and have fun

“I wish to thank the people of Mansfield for their support for our Agricultural Show which was amazing.”

Full results of events will be published in the Courier when finalised.
