The Snowy Mountains bus trial has now been extended in 2023 to run 7 days per week from June 10 to October 1, plus have extra routes.
This is great news for commuters looking for easy return transport from Jindabyne to either Perisher, the Skitube or Thredbo resort. During peak season from June 19 to September 21 on Friday, Saturday and Sunday there will be an enhanced service to Perisher running for peak travel times. Plus, importantly for staff and regular commuters, season tickets are available at $400, an economical and easy way to travel to work. Times start from the Station Resort and East Jindabyne during early morning, which should meet most work starting times in the resorts for staff.
The 2023 schedule will assist in relieving some pressure off the busy winter roads, and allow people to travel to Perisher and Thredbo, even if the car parks are full. Last snow season the trial bus service connected over 15,000 people in Jindabyne with the resorts.
“With visitor numbers to the alpine region continuing to increase year on year, a reliable alternative public transport option like this bus service will improve access to the ski fields for workers, visitors and locals,” said Member for Monaro Steve Whan.
Pickup locations include Reedys Cutting Road, Gippsland Street, Banjo Paterson Crescent and Snowy Region Visitors Centre, plus Station Resort, Tyrolean Village and East Jindabyne. There is a full timetable and route map on the website.
Routes this year include:
• Jindabyne to Perisher
• Jindabyne to Thredbo
• Jindabyne to Bullocks Flat Skitube
• East Jindabyne, Tyrolean Village to Station Resort (and return route)
