Grollo Group is helping to accommodate resort staff at Falls, Hotham

SNOW resort staff have settled in to the new worker accommodation in Bogong Village this season, with final works completed in late July.

Redevelopment of the existing 27 houses, tavern and amenities have been delivered by Worker HQ, part of the Grollo Group of companies, and includes 200 keyworker beds, providing much needed accommodation for Falls Creek businesses.

Energy company AGL last year announced a sublease agreement to Worker HQ, who will take over the ownership and operation of Bogong Village and redevelop it over the next three years.

Director of property at Grollo Group, Martin Ansell, said the village was about three quarters occupied by the start of July.

Mr Ansell said the Grollo Group was also progressing with its plans to develop a workers’ village on surplus land at Mount Hotham airport, to help meet accommodation needs of Mt Hotham and Dinner Plain winter staff.

The company has formally submitted plans to the State Government for the Key Worker Village and has applied to the state’s Regional Worker Accommodation Fund.

Mr Ansell said completion of the project is expected 18 months after government approvals and grants are in place.

The Grollo Group bought Mount Hotham airport for $6.5m in February 2023,

The 105–hectare site is only 10 kilometres from Dinner Plain and a further 10 kilometres from Mount Hotham, putting it in a prime position for accommodation.

“The airport will not be impacted and will remain open and continue to exist as a functioning facility,” Mr Ansell said, adding that the group has hopes of bringing back commercial flights for greater access to the ski fields.
