Hotham’s big weekend of competition and retro celebrations to welcome spring

HOTHAM Alpine Resort is gearing up for an action-packed weekend on September 7 and 8, featuring three exciting events: the Oakley Slope Style competition, Chicks Who Shred sessions, and the annual Retro Day.

The weekend kicks off with the Oakley Slope Style event on September 7, featuring both junior and open categories.

Riders will showcase their skills in two judged runs over various terrain park features, with their best run counting towards their final score.

Spectators can expect to see some impressive tricks and high-flying stunts as competitors vie for the top spot in this adrenaline-pumping competition.

Away from the Slope Style excitement, the Chicks Who Shred sessions will take centre stage on both September 7 and 8.

Chicks Who Shred, a grassroots organisation founded in 2010, provides free ski and snowboarding sessions throughout the Victorian and NSW Alps, led by some of Australia’s top female snow-sports athletes.

Participants will have the opportunity to learn and grow in various aspects of skiing or snowboarding, including park, freeride, slopestyle and big mountain.

Designed for intermediate and advanced female skiers and snowboarders, these sessions offer a supportive environment where women and girls can challenge themselves, improve their skills, and make new friends.

Adding a splash of colour and nostalgia to the weekend, Hotham's annual Retro Day will kick off the weekend in style on September 7.

Both visitors and locals are invited to don their best old-school ski outfits and hit the slopes in retro-chic style.

This well-loved tradition encourages everyone to dig through their closets, pull out their vintage gear, and join in the festive fun while celebrating the history of skiing and snowboarding in Australia and around the world.

This action-packed September weekend at Hotham offers something for everyone.

Whether you're there to compete in the Oakley Slope Style, learn some skills in the Chicks Who Shred sessions, or simply enjoy the nostalgic fun of Retro Day, Hotham is the place to be on September 7 and 8.
