Mt Stirling the place for snow play

THE beautiful surrounds of Mt Stirling offers an attractive alternative to the busier Mt Buller resort especially for families looking for some snow play which is looking good with recent snow falls.

Resort Operations and Patrol Manager (Mt Stirling) Andre Philbrick is being optimistic that the opportunities for snow play will continue throughout the season.

“However, now it is absolutely fantastic with two toboggan parks open, both a short walk from the carpark,” said Andre.

There is no charge for tobogganing if you have your own or you can rent from Stirling Experience.

“We are constantly told by the guests that come here that they love how quiet and relaxed it is compared to the busier mountains and often come back again and again,” said Andre.

“We also offer a fire pit and marshmallows for children and the café is open every day including late as required on weekends."

There is plenty of space for making snowmen or finding your own special play area.

“The other main thing we are proud off is our off-grid micro hydro power station which produces 120kw hours of green electricity a day which feed into 75kw of battery storage to run our electrical needs at TBJ (Telephone Box Junction),” said Andre.

Visitors can check the conditions on the live cam to see how good the snow cover at is at TBJ and then bundle the kids in their winter gear for some fun snow play.

The resort team has been busy during the summer creating a new snow play and toboggan area at King Saddle for this season.

Snow reliability is a little better in this area and it provides visitors with the ability to see more of the beautiful Alpine Ash forest that the Mt Stirling Alpine Resort sits in.

Visitors are also able to catch an exciting ride through the resort on the new snow-rider shuttle transport to access King Saddle, located 2 kilometres up the Circuit Road trail from Telephone Box Junction.
