THE Plough Inn will make your tastebuds sing, along with their entertainers, in a relaxed, family and dog friendly venue.
There is a function space and pub meals available five days a week for lunch and dinner.
The large beer garden is perfect for afternoons with a cold drink, a great pub meal and some friends – especially under the large 140 year old Wisteria.
Parmas and steaks take up plenty of space on the menu, however they offer an array of other good country pub food options, with the menu changed seasonally and weekly specials.
You won't be out in the cold with their warming fire, which Percy loves to sit by during winter.
The wine list showcases some outstanding wines and ice cold beers from the local area and a selection of small meals are available for those with lighter appetites.
The Plough Inn is full of history as well with the original weatherboard hotel established in 1861 but, after burning down, the current two storey building was constructed and finished by 1864.
The single storey section was added in 1880 as a General Store and bricks used for the new building were made using soil sourced from local paddocks.
A former Cobb & Co stables changing station, the original pub was founded by Henry Nolan and members of the Nolan family had continuous ownership until 2020.
So next time you are travelling along the Great Alpine Road to or from Wangaratta, take the turn off for Beechworth and stop at the Plough Inn.
