AFTER an intense men’s mogul night we are in the fight again for medals on Sunday with slopestyle snowboarder Tess Coady and women’s mogul skiers Jakara Anthony and Britt Cox leading our medal chances on Day 2 of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics.

Women's Snowboard Slopestyle Final

Tess Coady, the bubbly snowboarder showed in qualification she can fine tune on the day and improved dramatically from the first to the second run to qualify in eighth position.
Coady will need to step it up again if she is to grace the podium as there are many contenders with their eyes on the prize. The Genting Snow Park slopestyle course will again be a sight to see with its creative design. New Zealand’s Zoi Sadowski Synnott was the top qualifier and Jamie Anderson one to watch.
Men’s Snowboard Slopestyle Qualifying

Matt Cox will represent Australia at his first Winter Olympics starting at 24 and bib number 15. Having come off strong results in the past year, a highlight being a sliver at the 2021 US Open, Cox will be looking to step it up with his first objective to reach the final.
Each athlete will have two qualifying runs with the best to count, and look for the men to take acrobatics to the next level.
Curling

Our curling team of Tahli Gill and Dean Hewitt finish their mixed doubles campaign today in what has been an historic debut for the pair.
Men’s Cross Country Skiing 30km Skiathlon

Australia have two competitors today with stalwart Phil Bellingham competing in his third Winter Olympics and Seve de Campo on debut at his first games.
The tough challenge of 15km with classic skis before changing for the final 15km with freestyle skis is a gruelling event but always spectacular to watch.
Women’s Mogul Finals
From 9.00pm AEDT
Australia have two skiers already into the final with Jakara Anthony and Britt Cox, and Sophie Ash will be looking to join them when she skis in qualification number 2.
After an emotional night for the men, the ladies will be looking to add some hardware to the mogul tally with Anthony a huge chance for a podium, the position we hope is gold.
Britt Cox has been there before and in what could be her swansong event, it would be great to see her win a medal in this her fourth Winter Olympics. Cox has been a exemplary Australian representative in her career and it would be fitting if she could grace the podium.
Sophie Ash on debut placed 13th in the first qualifier and will need to deliver one good run to reach the final. Taylah O’Neill is not expected to ski after sustaining a recent knee injury and a did not finish in the first run.
Men’s Luge

Alex Ferlazzo will slide again in the luge for runs 3 and 4. His times for the first run was 58.216 and his combined time after the second run 1:57.210 leaving in 19th position. Having made a few errors he will be looking to improve on his position in this exciting event that did see some sliders crash yesterday.
Men’s Downhill Skiing

Australia do not have any competitors in this event but it is the “Blue Riband Event" of the games and on a new course that has only seen limited viewings by the racers, have 7plus website going on your computer while you have the TV on for other aussie events.
The big gun nations should be the main contenders, but you never know with a course that is quite foreign and it could be anyone’s day on what is a very interesting course.
