THERE was a wonderful early start to the season at Mt Buller on the weekend and it was great to see the huge grins on faces loading the Bourke Street Express on Saturday morning.
Sunday delivered a wintry blast and those who braved the conditions were treated to some huge snowflakes flying across the day.
Mt Buller recorded 34cm of fresh snow in the 24 hours to 7am Monday and it's set to keep coming all week.
Tobogganing in the newly managed parks got under way this weekend and guests are navigating the changes as they learn the new model for safer toboggan use in the resort.
Cafes did an amazing job keeping everyone fed and watered, and scrambled to the early opening to keep the warm food and coffees flowing, with some venues running low on food by Sunday afternoon and desperate for re–stocking.
The café at Mt Stirling is up and rolling supplying hot chocolates and a spot to warm up for those enjoying the snow play and deepening snow over there too.
Ski school is getting geared up for more lessons this long weekend and made a good start with private lessons and some beginner adult classes which were popular.
And now the long weekend is here for the Buller crew, who are welcoming gold medallist Jakara Anthony which will make the long weekend super special, along with Cam Bolton, Gabi Ash, Doug Crawford, Mia Clift and more.
They will officially open the 2022 winter season on Saturday, June 11, prior to the spectacular opening fireworks display
Then catch them again Sunday morning to celebrate the ski season opening weekend at Bourke St Express.
There is also a full line up of entertainers, headlined by Client Liaison.
